Conspiracy theory continues - Star Trek: The Experience to close
In an article on Trek Movie.com, Cedar Fair has confirmed that they have "no plans to renew" their contract at the Las Vegas Hilton for the chain's most unique property, Star Trek: The Experience.
Star Trek: The Experience's management team is led by Bart Kinzel, son of Cedar Fair CEO Richard Kinzel. He previously worked at Cedar Point in Food Services and Ride Operations, as well as Director of Food Services at Geauga Lake.
Just like Geauga Lake, lackluster results and declining attendance are the cause for the closure of the attraction. We here at Cheezonastick have received word from the enthusiast community, however, that this is yet another attempt at Cedar Fair to eliminate competition at Cedar Point. Apparently the plane tickets from Las Vegas to Sandusky were a lot cheaper than the Las Vegas Monorail passes this year.
Amusement parks meet Web 2.0
From blogs to handheld video games, amusement parks around the world are joining the "Web 2.0 revolution." People want their information instantly, and I guess theme parks aren't any escape.
I bring this up because just this week, Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana began using Twitter. Yes, that's right, I can now find out everything from when the sun is out to what park President Will Koch is doing at the time. We even get updates on e-mail that Paula gets from Bloo Loop, something I've always wanted to hear.
Amusement parks are even starting to get their own Facebook pages. I became friends with a few parks today, while I was looking around. Then tonight when I logged on, I found out that Geauga Lake's relationship status changed. Must be Cedar Fair finally broke up with it.

Frontier City renames new coaster
Frontier City announced today it will team up with Oklahoma-native and television star Chuck Norris. The park's newest roller coaster, a suspended family ride, will be named the Chuck Norris Roundhouse Kick Coaster.

Norris, former star of the hit show Walker, Texas Ranger, will be on hand for the coaster's grand opening in summer 2008. He will also design and demonstrate a new type of martial arts move inspired by the ride, which will be featured in one of the live shows and be created into a life-size statue at the ride's entrance.
Frontier City is now open weekends and begins daily operation Memorial Day Weekend. Walker, Texas Ranger was on the air from April 21, 1993 to June 2, 2001.
Big Dipper... new in 2009?
We've heard rumors that Big Dipper will appear in a new home for the 2009 season! So, of course as interested as I was, I sent out my spies to try and find out if these rumors were true. Sure enough, one of them came back with this picture:

Looks like it will find a new home in 2009 after all!
